Al-Kafaàt Foundation Trustee since 1995 and Permanent Member since 2017, Myriam is the daughter of Nadeem and Lily Shwayri. She holds a Master of Science in Communications Management from Newhouse School of Public Communications (Syracuse University) where she was a recipient of the Public Relations Students Society of America Scholarship (2007) and elected Phi Kappa Phi Society member (2008). She also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut (1996).
Myriam was the director of the Al-Kafaàt Technical and Vocational Training Institute (1998 – 2005). She then worked on the development of the Village Rehabilitation Campus between Al-Kafaàt and its technical and financial partners in Europe and North America (2005 - 2014). She developed in 2012 “Morus”, a social platform for the promotion of crafts produced by local artisans and adults with special needs, and was the Director of Communications of the Foundation between 2016 and 2023. Since July 2023, Myriam is a volunteer at the Al-Kafaàt Foundation.
