Al-Kafaàt relaunches its P&O Training Programs

With the support of the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon, the Al-Kafaàt Foundation is happy to announce the opening of its upgraded Prosthetics and Orthotics production workshop, relocated at its Beit El Adra rehabilitation Center. This workshop, named “Atelier Bernard Dujardin” is part of the continued pursuit of the Al-Kafaàt mission started in 1957, to deliver at cost prosthetics, orthotics, support equipment and specialized seating to people with special needs. The workshop is named after Bernard Dujardin, President and Founder of the French organization Handimat, in recognition of his generous guidance and technical advice to the Foundation for the past forty years. The opening took place under the patronage and in the presence of the Head of the Municipality in Hadat Mr. Georges Edouard Aoun, and in the presence of the technical partners of the Foundation from France and Germany.

Additionally, Al-Kafaàt and the U.S. Embassy are happy to announce that a first group of university students completed a training program in the production of prosthetics and orthotics, developed at the Al-Kafaàt University. Mrs. Arabelle Barbir of the U.S. Embassy, Professor Ramez Aouad President of the Al-Kafaàt Foundation, Professor Fathi Oueida President of the Al-Kafaàt University, and Dr. Abdel Mawla Chehab Eldine from the Ministry of Higher Education delivered the diplomas to the graduating students, followed by a cocktail prepared by the Al-Kafaàt Catering students.

This first graduating group makes Al-Kafaàt University the first university in Lebanon to deliver training in the field of prosthetics and orthotics with direct applications at the rehabilitation centers of the Al-Kafaàt Foundation.
